This extremely interesting, just opened exhibition focuses on the dramatic volcanic eruption in Heimaey 1973, one of Iceland’s biggest natural disasters. The highlight is a house that was buried under the ash and lava and has now been excavated providing a glimpse into the lives of the people who had to leave their homes and evacuate the island in the middle of the night.
