The Herring Era Museum

Often called the silver of the sea, the fish that touched the lives of most Icelanders in one way or another. This remarkable exhibition is probably the only one of its kind worldwide, with five permanent exhibitions. It’s fun to watch the Herring Girls fill barrels every Saturday in July, reviving the spirit of the old herring plants, singing and dock-dancing to live accordion music!
